New Email Squeeze And Funnel Set Up

New Email Squeeze And Funnel Set Up

Right. I went ahead and done it. I’ve set up a squeeze page to capture email addresses, that takes the subscriber to an offer and then they get a series of 6 emails offering 3 different products. Check it out at http://www.aymayzin.com/d4u/index.html

None of the offers are going to be of the ‘instantly make you rich’ variety as they’re in the $5-7 bracket, but 2 of the 3 are subscriptions and so will bring in monthly residual payments and as they’re cheap they’re less likely to be cancelled. At least that’s the theory.

As always, now all that’s needed is traffic.

The main free content (the bribe) is a 24 page ebook -‘Ultimate Sales Funnel Blueprint’  by Andy Waring (a fellow Brit) on (surprisingly) setting up a funnel of affiliate offers although Andy seems to be into the cheap and cheerful route, advising you to use low cost offers in your funnel and PLR materials based on your target niche. Nothing wrong with this approach if you are targeting newbies who generally want to know about a new subject without spending too much. The main thing to bear in mind with PLR is that many people have access to it and it is better re-written and getting new images for the support site and cover, which can be almost as much work as writing it all from scratch.

Setting up the GetResponse autoresponder pages was the most awkward as I hadn’t done it in GR before, at least not from scratch. In the end it wasn’t too bad as by the time I’d done it 6 times it was becoming routine.

Testing, of course, was the essential bit and I had made a few errors, mostly through not putting everything in the same directory as I had written down and in GetResponse, I had not set up the correct ‘success’ web page – which WAS in the instructions even if I hadn’t read them!

So it’s ready to go. Now to read through Andy’s ‘Ultimate Sales Funnel Blueprint’ and see how he suggests getting traffic to the funnel. Before that, here’s my thoughts on the whole product.

Done 4 U WSO review

Andy supplies 3 web pages with his Done 4 U kit, all of which are editable and clearly state where your affiliate links need to go, with of course the images that the web pages require. Another pdf manual guides you through it all, pretty much step by step as far as the web pages go, except for replacing the banners at the bottom of the download page, which undoubtedly point to Andy’s affiliate links. Not surprising in an inexpensive product, but still naughty for not mentioning them in the instruction manual. He also has a couple of different tracking links hidden away in the sometimes convoluted web page code. I would welcome his comments on those!

After running the code through HTML Tidy (as part of HTML-Kit web page editor than I normally use), I also found a few redundant lines that did nothing except bulk out the code a lot. I brought it down from 7k to 5k, which may not have a great effect on speed these broadband days, but every little helps.

D4U boxAndy Waring Done 4 U

Andy also offers 3 levels of assistance in his own funnel, ranging from doing everything – GetResponse autoresponder sequence, JVZoo sign up and offer approvals, as well as page customization and installation on your domain and web hosting, all the way down to ‘here’s the files with your details. You upload them’ – at various prices.

Obviously the more you do yourself, the more you’ll learn, but if you do get stuck then Andy’s assistance is but an email away. As is mine if you buy through my affiliate link, of course. Andy has a good reputation for helpfulness on the Warrior Forum and will probably sort some of your problems for free – just don’t take the mickey by asking for it all.

Andy Waring’s Done 4 U is probably best described as’ newbie inspirational’. An experienced marketer might not need it, unless he hadn’t done this sort of thing before. It’s certainly a good introduction if you need to get into list building (and who doesn’t, really?). The instructions as given are fixed towards 3 particular products and do not state anywhere that you can pick your own from any affiliate marketing site and use any niche, not just funnel & list building.

It’s good though and for $7 you won’t go far wrong with it. Just remember to replace all the banners and links.

A Sudden Burst of Clarity

A Sudden Burst of Clarity

In my humble opinion – as all things on this site are, a lot of internet marketing is a mess of total confusion. There are thousands of products out there that all intend to help us make more money, some of them are free, some of them are very expensive. Some offer to cover the whole gamut of internet marketing from A to Z and some only offer an insight to a small corner of this vast field of knowledge.

The trouble is that we feel we have to go out and check out every last little bit, in case there’s that special something that we’re missing, something that will suddenly turn our meagre efforts into total success. This feeling that we have to look at everything, and that usually means buying much of it, only adds to our confusion and actually stops us from being very productive on a day to day basis.

Alex Jeffreys puts it very succinctly in one of his excellent creations when he describes a moment when he heard his young son crying. The child had mixed several jigsaws together and was crying in frustration that he could not assemble one single picture. After Alex separated the jigsaws into their individual boxes (they were very simple jigsaws with a low number of pieces each) and left his lad with a single jigsaw and the box to copy the picture from, the youngster was happy – which at the same time gave Alex his own sudden burst of clarity on how he could help his customers and clients. This became the inspiration for a new product for Alex – The Cash Box Blueprint which has turned into another one of his huge sellers and pushed his name again to the top of people to know and follow.

I am going to adopt this idea from Alex and pass it on to you. I’m sure he won’t mind as (if it’s still available when you read this), you might just rush out and buy Cash Box Blueprint as it doesn’t cost much and it’s well worth the small price.

The idea is this… Stop being the origin of your own confusion.

Stop looking at every little or large thing that comes past you and concentrate on one training course that you’ve already bought and follow all of the instructions. Do this for a week or two, or a month, until it works, or until you are totally, really, utterly convinced that it doesn’t work. In that time period, don’t look at, buy or do anything else that is unrelated to that one course.

In other words, stop distracting yourself.

Chances are you will be more productive in that time period than you have ever been before. You will learn something and it will stick, even if it’s something that doesn’t work. Sort out your puzzles and put them all aside except for one and just do that one jigsaw puzzle. It will stop you crying for long enough to start enjoying yourself again.

Believe And Take Action

Believe And Take Action

It’s something we’re told hundreds of times on our internet marketing journey. Take Action. But how many of us really do? Not just any action, but positive action that moves our business forward? Not as often as we think we do, I’ll bet. That last book we read, the last video we saw, were they something we grabbed for free in return for our email address? If they were then chances are they may not be what we need to be looking at in order to improve our income.Remember most free give-aways are either there to give a small piece of possibly useful piece of data or to lead you on to a paid source of  information.

If it was something that you actively sought out, something that you know you need to discover, something that you know will move your business forward and something you want to learn, if it something you feel you can believe in, then it will be positive action.

If you believe that cheap safelists, email blasters and marketing directly to marketers through traffic exchanges are what you need to make money then you had better go for it. Hard. It will take a lot of daily action to keep selling through these sales lines. By the way, if you stop with your daily action then chances are so will your income. These methods do not give the buyers any value and due to the inconsistencies and vagaries of these platforms, people will not remember you on a day to day basis. Unless you’ve been clever about what you’re asking when you send out to the safelist or blaster then you cannot guarantee to talk to the same people each time. I know people have made these methods work, but chances are that they are not selling directly from the safelist ad, but using them as a device to get interested people onto an email list. Email list building and marketing is a completely different game though.

With email lists you can build a relationship with the same people day on day, week on week and you can instil their belief in you as a marketer and mentor. Consistency and value are the two ideals that will bring you an income that will be there for you, not only today, but also next week, next month and next year.

So aim your actions at things that will be of long term benefit to your subscribers. Believe in your actions and what you do today will be of long lasting benefits to you as well.

An Interesting Thought

Learning New Stuff

Here’s something that I’ll bet almost everybody ‘knows’, but nobody wants to admit, especially if you’re writing information books…

People don’t want to learn new stuff. They don’t want to be corrected on misinformation that they’ve had for years. If they don’t already know what you’re trying to tell them, they don’t want to know at all.

Many people are happily cozened in ignorance. They’re happy with what they think they know and they get decidedly unhappy when someone else tries to pop them out of their nice, happy bubble. These are people who will happily buy any new ‘latest and greatest’ ebook, gizmo or gadget that promises to make their life easier, but they don’t want to use it, in case it shows their previous ignorance.

So how can we, as marketers, get round this mental road block and convince them that we do know what we’re talking about, that the information that we have is required by our customers?

The first thing to do is to phrase things in relation to what they already know and cling to. They may already be aware that ‘the money is in the list’, and by introducing our new list building product with that phrase, we are getting onside with them by using language they already are happy with. We can then lead them away from familiar territory  by qualifying the statement with, ‘the money is in the targeted list’ and by only adding one word we are carefully guiding them in a more appropriate direction. Of course, depending on what we are marketing (we don’t ‘sell’) to our customers, may mean that we need to introduce or change whole phrases, but the point is it can be done via the familiar words already known.

Another method of changing customer’s thinking patterns is to be established as an expert. A voice of authority, a trusted guide. Obviously this is easier if you’ve already sold products of quality and your name is recognised or can be searched with no negative results.

The final way that I’ll discuss for now is friends recommendations. The word of mouth from the ‘bloke down the pub’ is more trusted than 1000 written words on a page. This is why a ‘tell a friend’ page is a popular and useful marketing tactic. If their friend has been convinced enough to change their mind then the follow the pack mentality means that if it’s good enough for him, it will be good enough for me too. When you give away your freebies, ask the new subscriber to recommend 3 to 5 friends and see how many of them also sign up. The form is pretty easy to add to any page and all you need to do is write a catchy headline and email as if from a friend that will automatically be sent to any emails put in by the original subscriber. I would suggest that you don’t make it a condition to supply 3 to 5 emails before they can download the book, as you’ll only end up with a large number of fake addresses.

So one simple idea that I saw in another article inspired this little piece that may just help you when you decide to next approach your customers. Consider where they are in their thoughts and where you’d like them to be, then create the road between these two places. It doesn’t have to be a straight line to be efficient.

Mid-Week Update for Mid-May

Another Day, as they say, Another Dollar. Today has been all about promoting Article Factory Pro (see previous post HERE).

It’s an excellent piece of software and I wrote 2 reviews, putting one on IBOToolbox and the other on AyMayZin.com and then linking back to these 2 articles on Twitter, LinkedIn, StumbleUpon and Google+, plus the article I wrote for the previous post, which I also promoted on the social sites. I’ve already had a few re-tweets and favourites from those and it will be interesting to see if they get anything coming through. By sending people to articles instead of directly to the sales page, anyone that does follow the links should be a pre-qualified buyer and more likely to get the software for themselves. About the only thing I haven’t done is create a video especially to go with the review, but I have picked one I liked and linked to it on my WordPress sites.

safelistmarketing

I’ve also done my usual 3 safelists – Herculist, European Safelist and SafeMailServices but I’ve written a pre-sell email and linked straight to the sales page. As I’m using a bit.ly link I should be able to do some basic tracking, at least knowing where visitors are coming from as far as browser, country and most importantly – which site are concerned. For those of you who don’t know, when you get a bit.ly shortened link, if you visit the link yourself but add + symbol to the end, it will take you to the link’s stats page. Makes some interesting reading sometimes.

Book-Review

Earlier this week I sent out some review copies of my upcoming book – The Social Marketer, but as no one has got back to me with a review or testimonial, I think I’ll be popping over to the Warrior Forum tomorrow and making the offer there. I understand this is quite normal and you have to put out about 10-12 free copies to get 2 or 3 reviews back. Still trying to decide though what channels to release it through. All of my stuff has gone to Kindle so far, but I fancy trying a WSO, so tonight’s reading will be one or two of the ‘How To Do A WSO’ pdf files that I have. I may even put what I gather to be the procedure on here and then do a before and after review, so we can compare the theory to the reality!

That’s enough to keep you entertained for another visit. Do come back again sometime or login and comment to your heart’s content. Any questions as always to the email address at the top of the page and I’ll answer as soon as I can.

A Critique and The Social Marketer

A friend of mine has looked over this site for me and suggested I need more pictures. I agree that this is lacking in visuals and I’ll do my best to remember to include pictures when I think they’re relevant, related and helpful. Although I enjoy photography, I don’t think or do visuals very much, preferring the written word. As always, I’d be glad of other opinions, so feel free to give them.

I haven’t actually done a great deal marketing-wise these last 4 days. Anything I say would just be an excuse and there’s no point in making those. If you want to be successful, you must do. Something. Anything!

I have done some reading and made some changes to my up-coming next release, The Social Marketer. It’s not about using social networks to market but more about marketing oneself and setting up a self brand’. Still trying to decide whether to Kindle it, WSO it or ClickBank it. The content is good (over 11,000 words) and I’m also considering adding a slide-show presentation to it and maybe turning it into an mp3 as well, so I can attract listeners and viewers as well as readers. Comments anyone?

Also joined Tiger Marketing on Facebook (Link Here) as it looks an interesting group. Small at the moment but with an enthusiastic admin who looks mostly into MLM, which is not my thing, but there’s always stuff to learn and, you know me, I’m happy to teach too.

P.S. If anyone wants to guest post on here with stuff relevant to marketing, especially affiliate or email list related stuff then contact me at the admin address. You will of course be fully credited and allowed links to your site or offer. I will be happy to guest post for you in return.

Some Promotions And Activities For May

In my previous entry I told you about a short ebook I’d written that I had put around some document repositories and to go hand in hand with this I had put out a Twitter blast through a Fiverr gig to publicise it, as well as pushing each repository deposit to Twitter, LinkedIn and Google+ if the site had the facility built in.

I’ve not had the report back from the Fiverr gig but I have seen a sharp increase in the number of follows my Twitter account has and so have spent some time following back – a necessary evil at the early marketer stage. I’ll count that as a positive sign and as such have done another couple of pushes of the ebook on my Twitter account – Online Marketing Man – @OnlineM54408687 using my Google Drive as a public document store. Apparently Google likes this sort of thing, so I will place other documents there too.

On my AyMayZin blog site I’ve also done a write up for Rent-A-List who I see a a great half way house between the high cost of solo ads and the low quality of safelists. I haven’t actually used them yet, so I guess I’m taking some of it on trust, but they have a good reputation and look to offer a wide range of email and traffic related services. Link to the actual article – HERE.

I’ve also publicised the article to Twitter and written an article for the article on IBOToolbox. Now in case you didn’t know, IBOToolbox is a social site for internet marketers (mostly) and it claims to be regularly indexed by search engines so that articles (they call the press releases) and Wall remarks (rather like Twitter) can be searched and found by non-members although they cannot reply until they sign up (of course). IBOToolbox also has it’s own video site and is adding extras all the time. It’s very social and it’s free to join.

One other place I’ve advertised the AyMayZin article is through a Herculist safelist blast. I’m a member and so can do an email to around 86,000 other members although on past experience I know the open rate on safelists is very low and I think I’d be lucky to see 80 viewers from that source.

Right then. That pretty much sums up today’s marketing activities. There’ll be more to follow very soon. Please keep up with me by putting your details in on the right hand side. You won’t get overly spammed by me and it’s more likely to be marketing information as opposed to sales pitches.

Thanks for reading.

Another Short Ebook Written

I’ve just completed a short ebook – only 2000 words, on Product Creation and I’m going to give this away in as many places as I can, mostly in the hope of it going a bit viral and spreading the word about this site as well as a few of the others that I run. It’s called Product Creation For The Terminally Terrified and it was written specifically to be a give-away, rather than a product to sell.

I’ve already got a few sales products but I didn’t want another one just yet. It’s not there to teach everything about Product Creation, more just a guideline and starting point for those who don’t yet know that they even need to create a product. There’s no glitzy cover and it really is just a bare-bones outline of what I see as the basic requirements.

I got the idea to create a short ebook from my studies of Alex Jeffreys’ Marketing With Alex 2.0 course and the topic seemed obvious to me. As Alex explains, it’s not that we don’t have enough books on a particular subject, it’s more that if there are a lot of books in a niche that means that there is a demand for information – and demands must be satisfied. Product Creation is an ‘evergreen’ niche – it’s going to be constantly in demand, so it’s a good one to run with. What I should look in to now is some saleable products within the niche and write articles for them, probably on my http://www.aymayzin.com review site, which will enable me to monetise my free ebook.

I haven’t put any affiliate links in the book as I am using it to gain trust in me. The only links that are in it go to sites that are under my control and there is no forced or even subtle selling towards any of them, although they do fit indirectly into the product creation theme.

You can download it here. Get it, read it and let me know what you think of it. Should I write a full course, explaining all the details and go more into outsourcing? You tell me. It would be great to hear from you. Feel free to copy it round your friends too. Pass it on.

Here’s a list of sites that I’ve added the ebook to. Also where the sites offered it I’ve also posted the links to my twitter, facebook, linkedin and google+ feeds each time, so there should be a few mentions of it going around.

Slideshare,   Scribd,   DocStoc

Also on a recommendation I’ve added it to my own Google Drive and made it public. Apparently Google likes that sort of thing and will make the document searchable. I’ve also put it on a few sharing sites although they weren’t ones I’d heard of before, but the idea is push the free document around and see what returns.

How to REALLY Get On With Online Marketing – Use a MENTOR

Loads of people start in online marketing and sooner or later, 97% of them will fail and give up. They’ve bought ebook after ebook, system after system, shiny object after shiny object and got absolutely nowhere. So what have the 3% who succeed got over the 97% who fail? The answer is A MENTOR.

A mentor is a guide, teacher and occasional rump-kicker who has been there, done it and is selling the t-shirt. Someone who knows what is currently working because they are still successful now. Someone you can have confidence in and who will inspire the confidence that you need in yourself.

Now. The obvious question is where to find such a paragon of internet marketing virtues? Surely not those people who make offer after offer and expect you to buy ‘product x’ one day and competing ‘product y’ the next? No, of course not. Look for someone who is promoting their own products heavily and has a full system in place, from free give-away ebooks where they reveal a small part of their system through larger audio/visual systems up to personal one-to-one training. If you find someone who puts their own name to every piece of work that they sell, has their own face in the videos and their own voice on the audio then chances are they are preaching a working system and may even be using an expanded version of the self-same system for their own organisation.

How would you find such a mentor? By research, the same as you would research anything you buy (including the next shiny object), by looking around to see what people are saying about the product and its author.

The Warrior Forum is always a good place to start. If you’re not a member and you are determined about internet marketing or any online selling, then you should give it some serious thought. It is  a place where (mostly) like minded people meet in order to discuss internet marketing in its various guises, probably including some you might not have heard of. It is NOT a place to spam peddle your wares (affiliate links not allowed in posts) although there are sections where you can sell your own products (called WSOs or Warrior Special Offers) to the membership.

There are other dedicated marketer forums too, but I will encourage you to research them for yourself.

James Altucher Everything in life is your mentor T…

As for my mentor, well I have decided to follow Alex Jeffreys. He’s a Brit like me and to my mind he talks a lot of sense when it comes to marketing tactics. He talks a lot about his past at the beginning of many of his products and he admits to having a team around him now although he started as a one man show. Look out for his free ebooks called ‘Guru’s Dream’, Newbie Nightmare’ and Guru’s Nightmare’. You’ll have to sign up to his lists to get them or they are available on Kindle through Amazon. You don’t get bombarded with sell, sell, sell emails and you do got lots of great information, mostly in video format. He has a good reputation online and just has the right sort of ‘feel’ to the way I want to approach things. I’m currently working my way through his ‘Marketing With Alex 2.0’ product which is 25 hours+ of video material. Not bad for less than $20! Unfortunately it’s off the market at the moment but Alex does re-release it now and again and I’ll let you know when it does make an appearance.

Alex, of course, does have mentors of his own (he apparently spends over $50,000 a year on them) so when he tells us things, they are coming from a very expensive horse’s mouth and are well worth hearing.

That’s enough from me for now. Do some research, pick yourself a mentor and start to study their material and methods. You’ll be one of the 3% soon enough.

Next Article – A Crtique and The Social Marketer

Welcome and Hello

Well Here We Go

Hi everyone. My name is Steven Lucas and I’m going to document my way in the internet marketing world. I’m going to let you know of things I’m trying, courses I’m making way through and hints and tips that I discover. My intention is to let you know what works and what doesn’t. Whose stuff is good and might work for you and what is bad – so bad that it couldn’t possibly work for anyone, probably including the original producer.

I’m British so some of my trans-atlantic cousins might find the spelling a little different. We are after all, two countries divided by a common language. I’m sure you’ll get the correct meanings though. The concepts are the same everywhere. I will try to avoid idioms and situations that are exclusively British and make sure any explanations are clear and unambiguous.

Apart from that we should all be good to go. If you’re following my journey and trying the same or similar things to me I’d love to know how you get on. By comparing notes we’ll be able to all help each other and bring more success our way that what we may have managed on our own.

This site is a bit of continuous development and so may change themes and sidebars as I see fit or when I get recommendations from others. There will be free downloads that will be of interest to you and obviously when I do reviews and off site recommendations they will be for commission based sales where I will make a bit of money should you buy the product. I can assure you that you won’t pay more by buying through an affiliate link (as these things are known) and that what I do make will go towards other products to review and the upkeep of this and other sites that I look after.

It just remains for me to say, keep coming back to see my updated adventures in Internet Marketing Land, try some of the stuff yourself and if you need help with something do ask. I have a lot of experience with web site building and many other aspects of the World Wide Web and I’m more than happy to help who I can, where I can.

The one last piece of advice I will add is – if you’re going to give this a try then TAKE ACTION. If you don’t do anything then nothing will happen. And we don’t want that now, do we?

P.S.: There’s an About Me page for those of you who want to see my picture and learn about my life up to this point. I’m told it makes me appear more human and the whole thing a bit more real.
