Even though SEO and digital marketing are becoming increasingly more complex, there is a single element that is still crucial today and that is keywords. While the use of keywords has altered, the fact is that the requirement for good keywords has not changed.
Depending on whether you are investigating if there is a requirement for your product /service or trying to find a topic for your next blog post, uncovering the correct keywords will make all the difference.
Normal starting point in keyword research is Google AdWords Keyword Planner, select the keyword tool tab, list some words and out comes a list of phrases. But today, things have changed. The basic keyword and now been replace by the long tailed keyword and it is now more difficult to work out what the potential customer are really looking for.
There is a plethora of less obvious methods to obtain keywords that will increase your organic traffic.
When a potential customer types into the Google’s search bar, Google will try and predict the query and type it out. This element has been available for a long time and this function is getting more intelligent with time.
The auto complete function is built on real queries. Despite variation, of geography or language, it delivers relatively accurate depiction of what user are searching for.
So why is auto complete, so good for finding keywords?
So do you use auto complete, just type in your main keyword phrase and auto complete will do the rest.
At the time of writing this Google is still the largest search engine on the internet, so we have to take our clues from it. Related searches are a straightforward way to get some instant keywords.
At the end is a collection of keywords, ready for selection:
The concept is comparable to “Google Suggest”. But, instead of offering auto complete ideas, Google takes the keyword and combines it with other words. These additional words can be at the end, at the start, or throughout the suggestion. These results may not even have the actual keyword, but are related in a loose way.
Whatever the case is, you will certainly find some keyword ideas.

Another great idea for getting keywords is get them from your competition.
Not only will you get to identify some really good keywords, but you will be able to gather the top place organic keywords.
So how do I get these words?
Your rivals that are higher up in the ranking for a given phrase or long tail query are higher for a variety of explanations. One such reasons could be their keyword selection. But remember, they will also require a good linking profile, but you can’t rank for a keyword without actually having that keyword (or a variation of) on your page.
This list is by no means exhaustive.
Researching keywords using Google is an elementary skill for any SEO. The process of identifying those keywords does not need expensive tools or complicated methods. I have used each of these approaches for myself, with very good results.
What is YOUR preferred method for finding great keywords?

I was working as a storage engineer in an IT outsourcing company and hated what I was doing. But I had no plans to leave because it safe and I had invested many years in the company, but unfortunately there are some things you cannot control (like the economy) and so, in 2013 I was made redundant..
Getting made redundant is a weird feeling. One day you think everything is fine and for whatever reason the next day you don’t really know what you’re supposed to do anymore. Instead of feeling bad about it, I immediately decided to work for myself from home. Read More
